I have always struggled with my weight since I was young. As I gained weight I became depressed & ate more gaining more weight. I felt like I was stuck on an emotional rollercoaster that I couldn’t get off.

I had read all the books, tried all the diets & as an intelligent person I knew the right & wrongs of eating, but just didn’t seem to be able to sustain healthy eating or a healthy life style. Sure I dieted & got down to under 74kgs but as soon as I stopped the diet the weight crept back up again & let’s face it nobody can live on those diets forever or at least I can’t. Every time I started a new diet I was starving & all I could think about was food & the next time I get to eat.

So I decided to take the step, I went to a seminar with a friend, I researched on the internet, I found people who had the surgery & pestered them with questions. After I had the surgery I was surprised at how small a deal it was a couple of days of discomfort.

2 years before I had the surgery I threw away my scales sick of the disappointment each time I weighed myself. After the surgery I went & bought & new set that I used once a week with excitement as I could see the weight dropping off.

True LAP-BAND^® procedure is a tool, you still have to work at it, but it makes it a lot easier. My outings are no longer centred around going out for a meal but rather going out & enjoying activities with my family & friends especially my kids. I find it a lot more enjoyable to have dinner parties with my friends as I don’t feel self conscious that people are commenting on how much or what I am eating.

Before the surgery my husband would encourage me to buy new clothes, at the time I could think of nothing worse. Now I enjoy clothes shopping will spot some clothes in a shop window that I like & will stop in to try them on; before I would head to the food court out of depression knowing that the outfit would never fit me.

But I have to say the best thing of all is how proud my daughter looks at me & tells me she is of me. She proudly announces to her friend that I am her mother, she loves to come out shopping with me & give me advice as to the clothes that I try on (as 9 year olds love to do).

My only regret is that I did not have the surgery earlier. It has truly been a life changing experience, I now LOVE life, something that I have never felt before.

People need to realise that they too can get the same results as I have had simply by having the dedication & want that I did. I highly recommend the procedure as long as you are willing to make it work.
