Flavoured water recipe: lemony citrus crush

Our lemony citrus crush is a zesty, refreshing way to enhance plain water without the added sugars and artificial ingredients.

 

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 2 small oranges or fresh limes
  • 2 fresh lemons
  • ½ cup firmly packed mint leaves or 1 teaspoon grated ginger (based on preference)
  • Optional: Add a splash of diet cordial or 1 teaspoon of Stevia for a hint of sweetness without the sugar

 

Method:

  1. Prepare the fruit: Start by thoroughly washing the fruit. Cut the oranges (or limes) and lemons into quarters.
  2. Crush: Using a mortar and pestle or a blender, crush the fruit pieces into a pulp. Incorporate the mint leaves or grated ginger, and if you’re opting for it, the diet cordial or Stevia. The goal is to create a fragrant, juicy pulp.
  3. Freeze: Transfer the pulp mixture into ice cube trays and let it freeze overnight. This step turns your flavour mix into convenient, ready-to-use cubes.
  4. Enjoy: To infuse your water with flavour, simply add one or two of these frozen cubes into your water bottle. As they melt, they’ll release their delightful citrusy essence into your water, making each sip enjoyable.
